An outline of things, sound cartography
What does it mean to build research? In this case, it leads to tuning into the ongoing echoes of obsolescence in the home improvement store, feeling overwhelmed by the self-propulsion of things and reading into what gets assembled in palms and pieces of poetry. From the lines in my hands an outline of things, all while trying to read what accumulates between them.
This installation is based on a research project into new materialisms. It tries to capture emotional material(ity) and proposes sounds and listening as a way to map out ecologies in capitalist ruins.
Sina is drawing on her background in design and on a new-found writing practice in order to reconsider and recontextualize the familiar and the ordinary, and investigate relational thinking. At the moment her research is informed by sound studies, anarchist poetry, and vital materialism.
